We encountered many different fish species during our recent trip to Wakatobi: this latest video sequence pieces together a number of the venomous species we saw.
Although I had read about the ability of some scorpion fish to change colour, I’d never actually seen it happen before. This one kindly obliged with a fantastic demonstration while the camera was rolling.

Anyone who has done a night dive in a tropical location will likely have encountered curious lionfish who use divers’ lights to hunt their prey. This one was particularly interested in the video lights on the camera set-up and was repeatedly swam straight into the camera lens until the point at which I thought I’d better get my hands out of the way.

The 4-minute video is here.
