Lindisfarne

Lindisfarne

November 2008

Lindisfarne, also known as Holy Island, is a tidal island – separated from the mainland at high tide, connected by a narrow causeway at low tide. It was home to St. Aiden and St. Cuthbert and has a rich history.

This view shows one of the traditional Northumbrian cobles (a type of fishing boat adapted for the local beaches and sea conditions) in Lindisfarne Harbour with the castle rising behind.
