This image was another of those stumbled-upon roadside gems: a very weather-beaten sign advertising a old business nicely paired with a skeletal remains of what I think is a Pronghorn antelope. It seemed an interesting juxtaposition.
It transpires that Gay Johnson’s has been around since 1941:
Gay Johnson’s is headquartered in Grand Junction, CO and since 1941 has been in the business of gasoline service stations, associated conveniences stores, truck stops and tires in Wyoming as well as Colorado. It was named after its owner, Gay Johnson, who was also involved in farming in Colorado, growing oats, corn and alfalfa.
