The Narrows

The Narrows

October 2009

The Narrows is a stretch of the Virgin River in Zion National Park. The footpath extends a way north beyond the Temple of Sinawava before abruptly ending. At that point, if you’re game, you can travel on wading up the river for some miles. By late October, the water temperature is low enough that it’s advisable to rent some canyoneering boots and dry-suit pants from one of the local outfitters.

Suitably kitted out, you can enjoy spectacular sandstone canyons and beautiful trees and waterfalls as you travel up river.
