My cyber-chum Mick Rogers has very kindly e-mailed me some photos of the recently completed monument of the HMAS Brisbane, where Alice and dived last October (watch the video here).
I recall the dive guide mentioning at the time that part of the superstructure of the ship had been saved prior to the scuttling to be incorporated into a monument – I guess this is it…

Armed with my trusty copy of Google Maps Hacks and recent copy of .NET magazine, I’ve added some Google Maps magic to the site.
Since I first thought this might be a nice way to pull together the content on the site, I discovered two other scuba sites that had already beaten me to the punch.
Tim Sheerman-Chase has listed out every dive centre you might ever need in and around Dahab, Egypt and included them on Google Maps. (He also has some great videos on YouTube) …

When I first bought an underwater video housing last year, I ordered the kit by telephone from Cameras Underwater here in the UK. After looking at a few housings in the showroom in central London, we’d decided that Ikelite looked like an attractive way to go (on the basis of cost, simplicity and availability).
The one thing I wasn’t at all sure of when ordering was what size flight case we’d need to house all the kit…

Our final day brought us back in closer to short in preparation for the journey home from Marsa Alam. Typically, on the last day of a liveaboard, you’re winding down, thinking you’ve seen the best of the diving already. However, our final two dives on Ras Shona proved to be some of the most picturesque of the whole trip.

There’s an exciting development happening in a remote corner of Indonesia: the Misool Eco Resort. Andrew Miners is constructing a new dive resort on Batbitim Island in the southern Raja Ampat islands, part of Indonesia’s Papua province.
The only other non-liveaboard dive resort I know of is Papua Diving’s operation on Kri, a little to the north (check out the Video and Trip reports for more details from our visit last year)…

Day 5 took us to Daedalus, to the south of the Brothers. Having motored overnight, we arrived just in time at around 6am in the morning. We had three dives planned for the day. There were 3 or 4 other dive boats in attendance, fewer than the other places we’d been, but still more than I’d expected…
